Interpretation of blood pressure monitor values according to the Law of 5 Elements

In this part, QiQongTherapy, a branch of Complementary Medicine, will discuss how to use the values obtained from the blood pressure monitor and interpret them according to the Law of the 5 Elements and the 3 principles: Energy-Alimentation-Mental, in order to determine the cause of the disease to the organ or to the viscera.

Information collected
References values from a 41-59 year old person
Systolic:120-130 mmHg / Diastolic:70-80 mmHg / Pulse:70-75 bpm

Case Study: A person has the following pre-meal measurements

Right: 118 mmHg/ 65 mmHg/ 75 bpm
Left: 128 mmHg/ 65 mmHg/ 65 bpm
Temperature: 34oC

Tension at the right foot: 130 mmHg / 65 mmHg / 75 bpm
Tension at the left foot: 135 mmHg/ 100 mmHg / 75 bpm
(tensions are measured at the necks of the feet, at the points 6Sp San Yin Jiao/Tam Âm Giao)

How to interpret?
1-      The temperature of 34oC indicates a lack of sugar and a cold state.

2-      The values of systolic and diastolic blood pressure are lower than those of the aged-references, indicating a case of Energy and Blood Deficiency.
3-      The blood pressure on the right should be higher than the one on the left, before meals, but in this case, the systolic blood pressure on the right is lower, meaning that the Liver does not work to secrete bile to give the sensation of hunger, besides, it indicates that the Liver is shriveled. This is a case of reverse transformation: the food, instead of going down, goes up. The undigested food remains in the stomach, will later give rise to oesophageal upward movements, eventually leading to the appearance of cysts in the throat.

4-      The tension on the right side measures the Wood Element (liver and gall bladder). The low diastolic tension on the right means the Liver is lacking blood, therefore the Heart will also lack blood (mother-child cycle). Wood Deficiency means that its mother Water is also Deficient. In turn, the Wood does not nourish her child the Fire, who will also be deficient.

5-      Fire is not capable of providing heat to its child Earth (stomach-spleen ). Food is not transformed into Energy and Blood, but into fat. This situation is confirmed by the low systolic and diastolic pressures.

6-      The tensions on the left, before eating:
-    Systolic 128 mmHg / Diastolic 65 mmHg / Pulse 65 bpm, these values indicate that the stomach is swollen with energy, but does not contain food (low diastolic pressure).
Example: If the same person has the following values:
Systolic 128 mmHg / Diastolic 86 mmHg / Pulse 65 bpm, this would indicate that the stomach is swollen with energy and also contains undigested food.

7-     Deficient Earth will make Metal and Water Deficient (mother-child cycle) respectively.

8-     The diastolic pressure in the left foot 65 mmHg, indicates a lack of blood in the foot giving a tingling sensation.
Example: If the same person has the following values measured on the feet, 130 mmHg/ 55 mmHg/ 75 bpm, this indicates that the feet are cold on the outside, but the person feels warmth in the bones.

9.    Diastolic pressure in the right foot 100 mmHg, indicates blood congestion in the lower limbs.
These tensions in the feet indicate a low blood supply to the feet, an affluence and stagnation of blood in the lower limbs, also indicate Heart Failure, because the return of blood to the heart is insufficient, forcing the heart to work too hard to draw blood to the heart. Without measuring the tension in the feet, a possible aggravation due to Heart Failure could not be prevented, because according to the law of the 5 Elements, Water already in Failure cannot dominate Fire, to put it in Failure. This Heart Failure is of physical, hydric and mechanical nature, it is the result of the global deficiencies of the other Elements in the cycle of the 5 Elements.
-          If the tension in the right foot would be: 180 mmHg/ 120 mmHg/ 75 bpm, it would indicate an inflammation of the prostate.

10.  Conclusion: This is a case where all 5 Elements are Deficient in Energy, Blood, Glucose, plus heart failure, with Cold state -

Treatment Protocol

Of the 5 Elements in Failure, plus one Heart Failure, you must choose 3 consecutive Elements to be treated by taking the Earth as the Middle Element: Fire-Earth-Metal. Treat the Earth first, the most important Element, because it is through the Earth that food will be transformed into energy and blood to nourish the whole body.

The cause of this case of illness is in the stomach due to lack of glucose and exercise.

-      Lack of glucose, and therefore lack of Warmth and Energy, does not allow the stomach to digest the food and transform it into Energy and Blood, thus putting all the other Elements in Deficiency.
-      Lack of exercise does not promote good energy and blood circulation to nourish the whole body. In addition, the lack of the effect of muscular contraction, on the veins of the lower limbs, will not help the return of blood to the heart, but will induce Heart Failure.

The treatment is based on the 3 Principles and the reasoning according to the Law of 5 Elements
1.         Energy: practising the exercises
2.         Alimentation: a varied diet containing glucose, lipid, protein and oxygen.
3.         Mental: take glucose to increase heat and pulse.
·         Taking glucose to increase the source of energy and heat to the Earth to transform food into Energy and Blood.

·         The QiQongTherapy exercises will saturate the blood with oxygen.

·         Practice the exercise "Tap Hands in 4 Steps/ Vỗ tay 4 Nhịp" to strengthen Fire (Heart), Metal (Lungs), and of course, Earth (Stomach-Rate-Pancreas). The 3 consecutive Elements will thus be reinforced.

·         Also practice the exercise: "Bring your knees to your chest by blowing /Ép gối làm mềm bụng", or the exercise: "Hail to God/ Cúi lạy", to re-install the adequate transformation of food into energy and blood, and not only into fat.

·         Practise the exercise "Tighten your calves with an elastic bandage, then go up and down the stairs, or just one step / Bó chân đi cầu thang một bậc". Tightening the calves will tighten the veins, thus allowing the venous valves to close properly. Going up and down stairs causes the muscles to contract, pushing the blood back up to the heart, treating Heart Failure.

·         Measuring the pH: if alkaline pH 7 is good, if acid pH 6 and less, it is necessary to raise the pH by taking sodium bicarbonate (1 teaspoon of bicarbonate with 3 teaspoons of glucose in a little water after a meal). Stop taking bicarbonate as soon as the pH rises to pH 7, and take again bicarbonate as soon as the pH drops to pH 6. An acidic pH promotes the progression of disease to cancer.

·         Remarks Ideally, it is to measure blood pressure and glycemia before and after meals, during 3 consecutive days.
-      Honey has the particularity of lining and repairing cracks or bursting of the pulmonary alveoli, to restore their structure intact, in cases of pulmonary tuberculosis. Honey also repairs cracks and wounds in the stomach. Stop taking honey as soon as the stomach heals, to avoid a continuous lining that will harden the inner lining of the stomach, blocking any subsequent kneading of food.

-      A functional sugar is a sugar that raises: the Energy, the temperature and the heartbeat, but does not lower the pH.

-      In case of severe indigestion, take 1 teaspoon baking soda with 3 teaspoons of glucose in a little water, after meals, to help digest and evacuate food in a natural way.

-      A 10-digit difference value indicates an appropriate and ideal transformation of food into Energy and Blood.

Ex.: Stomach systolic pressure (left) after a meal is 130 mmHg, then 4 hours after a meal it drops to 120 mmHg, indicating that the transformation of food into Energy and Blood is 100%.
On the other hand, if 4 hours after meal, it is 127 mmHg, it means that only 30% of the food is transformed into Energy and Blood. One digit represents 10% of transformation.
Measuring the temperature makes it possible to differentiate between 2 cases where the measurements on the tensiometer are identical:

 - Case 1: 120 mmHg / 88 mmHg / 120 bpm, if the temperature is 340C, it is a case of lack of blood, forcing the heart to beat quickly to get the blood to the cells in time, raising the pulse to 120 bpm. The lack of blood causes Heat inside, and Cold outside (340C).

- Case 2: 120 mmHg/ 88 mmHg / 120 bpm, if the temperature is 390C, it is a true case of hyperthermia following an infection.
